Lucie Hertz-Pannier

Research director CEA

As a pediatrician and radiologist, then a neuroimaging researcher, and with a long-standing interest in neurological disabilities in children, my main scientific interest is focused on the study of brain plasticity in children using high field structural and functional MRI. How does a child with a large unilateral brain lesion develop language or motor skills? What are the limits of plasticity in the immature brain? In collaboration with different clinical or research teams, I am investigating how imaging allows us to understand the mechanisms of brain plasticity in pathological conditions well described clinically (focal epilepsies, neonatal stroke, …), with a particular interest for language and motor development, with reference to normal brain development.

After a pediatric neuroradiology activity at the Necker-Enfants malades hospital, I directed until 2021 the Clinical and Translational Neuroimaging research unit (UNIACT), in charge of the clinical neuroimaging research platform at NeuroSpin at CEA Saclay. Since 2019, I co-direct with Jessica Dubois, the inDEV team (Inserm-CEA), within U1141 NeuroDiderot (Hopital Robert-Debré, Université Paris-Cité).
